Online Comment & Feedback Form!

Have you been through an inspection or decontamination at Lake Tahoe before and wanted a way to let us know how your experience was? Well now you can. We have added a “Comment & Feedback form” to our website to give everyone the chance to let us know how we are doing, how amazing our inspectors are, or perhaps provide some ideas on ways to improve the overall experience. You can find the link to the Comment & Feedback form on our Welcome Page or on our Contact Page.

The Watercraft Inspection Program strives to make the inspection process convenient for boaters while ensuring the greatest protection for Lake Tahoe from the harmful impacts of unwanted aquatic invasive species, like the quagga mussel, spiney water flea or Hydrilla. If you have ever been to an area infested with these horrible non-native species, you realize how important preventing them from being introduced can be. We greatly appreciate all feedback regarding boat inspections and encourage you to provide suggestions with realistic solutions that will help protect Lake Tahoe now, and into the future.

Remember that We’re All In This Boat Together and to be Clean, Drained & Dry every time you change waters to help protect them from aquatic invasive species!

FREE Aquatic Invasive Species Talk @ REI Reno – Sept. 26, 2012

Protect Your Local Waters…..Prevent the Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species!

Calling all boaters, anglers, paddlers, swimmers and water-lovers! Do your part to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species! Asian clams, zebra & quagga mussels and invasive weeds like Eurasian water milfoil are just a few of the plants and critters that currently threaten your local waters.

These pests could cost millions to the local economy and irreparably damage our environment, affecting everyone in the region.  The Tahoe Resource Conservation District (Tahoe RCD) works with dozens of partner organizations and agencies to protect Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River watershed by implementing programs aimed to prevent and control the spread of aquatic invasive species.

The Tahoe RCD will share information about these species, how they are easily spread and how we can prevent and minimize their damage on Sept. 26, 2012 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the REI in Reno, NV .

Fallen Leaf Lake: Sealed Boats Only this Summer!

This season, the Fallen Leaf Lake marina will only be launching motorized boats with intact wire seals from Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe. All other unsealed boats, or those with ballast tanks, bound for Fallen Leaf Lake will need to visit the Meyers Inspection Station for an inspection and decontamination prior to launching at Fallen Leaf Lake marina. Lake Tahoe sealed boats can expect an additional decontamination at the Fallen Leaf Lake marina to help prevent the spread of Asian clam and Eurasian watermilfoil, which are already present in Lake Tahoe. Remember to be Clean, Drained & Dry to help expedite the inspection process and to protect your waters from aquatic invasive species!  West shore and Nevada Fallen Leaf-bound boaters, please call the Hotline at 888.824.6267 and let us know if you’d like Fallen Leaf Lake inspections and seals available at a boat inspection station near you!

Saturday 6/9/12: Delay Notice for Spooner Station

This Saturday, June 9th the Spooner Inspection Station will be DELAYED until noon due to an event conflict.

Spooner will be open from 12:00pm-8:00pm on Saturday. All other roadside inspection stations will be open during normal operating hours.

Thank you and remember to Clean, Drain & Dry your boat and equipment before your next adventure to help protect your waters from aquatic invasive species!

Roadside Inspection Stations Now Open for 2012 Season

It is officially boating season and we are excited to announce that the Roadside Inspection Stations are now open. We have the same 5 stations as last year: Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Spooner, Meyers and Homewood (click here for hours of operation).

All boats with intact wire inspection seals, who want a Tahoe Only sticker, may go directly to the launching facility of their choice to purchase their 2012 Tahoe Only sticker. Boats without the wire inspection seal are required to stop by one of the 5 Roadside Inspection Stations to get an inspection, wire seal and purchase their 2012 Tahoe In & Out sticker or 7 Day Launch Pass for inspections (Current Watercraft Inspection Fees). Tahoe In & Out stickers and 7 Day Launch Passes are only sold at the Roadside Inspection Stations.

Want to save some time and money?? Make sure your boat is Clean, Drained & Dry prior to your inspection, because additional fees apply for hot water decontaminations this year on boats that are not CLEAN, DRAINED & DRY.

2012 Inspection Stickers available now

The 2012 Tahoe Only, Tahoe In & Out and 7-day passes are currently available for purchase at Cave Rock and Lake Forest boat launches until April 30th, 2012. Sand Harbor boat launch is only selling Tahoe Only stickers. In 2012 we are transitioning to a calendar year for our annual inspection stickers, but all 2011 Tahoe Only and Tahoe In & Out stickers will be accepted until APRIL 30, 2012.

Remember to Clean, Drain and Dry your boat every time you change bodies of water. ~JB
