Have you been through an inspection or decontamination at Lake Tahoe before and wanted a way to let us know how your experience was? Well now you can. We have added a “Comment & Feedback form” to our website to give everyone the chance to let us know how we are doing, how amazing our inspectors are, or perhaps provide some ideas on ways to improve the overall experience. You can find the link to the Comment & Feedback form on our Welcome Page or on our Contact Page.

The Watercraft Inspection Program strives to make the inspection process convenient for boaters while ensuring the greatest protection for Lake Tahoe from the harmful impacts of unwanted aquatic invasive species, like the quagga mussel, spiney water flea or Hydrilla. If you have ever been to an area infested with these horrible non-native species, you realize how important preventing them from being introduced can be. We greatly appreciate all feedback regarding boat inspections and encourage you to provide suggestions with realistic solutions that will help protect Lake Tahoe now, and into the future.

Remember that We’re All In This Boat Together and to be Clean, Drained & Dry every time you change waters to help protect them from aquatic invasive species!

Currently all Roadside Inspection Stations are CLOSED for the season and Tahoe RCD inspectors have moved back to Cave Rock and Lake Forest boat ramps for winter boat inspections.

Beginning Monday, 10/1/2012, watercraft WITHOUT an intact Lake Tahoe wire inspection seal will be required to visit Cave Rock or Lake Forest boat launches to be inspected prior to launching (weather permitting). New inspections can only be performed during DAYLIGHT hours where enough ambient light is available to properly inspect the vessel and its compartments. Hot water decontaminations will continue to be available (additional fees may apply) during the month of October from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for boats that are not Clean, Drained & Dry at Cave Rock and Lake Forest only. Please understand that decontaminations may not be available when outside temperatures reach below freezing.

Decontaminations required on boats without an intact Lake Tahoe wire inspection seal from Nov-Spring of 2013 will be done on a reservation basis only (weather permitting).

Winter weather may affect winter inspection location hours of operation, and any delays or closures will be posted on this website and on the 888-824-6267 Hotline. During the winter there are other launching facilities open, but NO INSPECTIONS will be available at these locations and only boats with INTACT Lake Tahoe wire inspection seals will be permitted to launch. Boaters should contact those facilities directly for their winter hours of operation.

Calling all boaters, anglers, paddlers, swimmers and water-lovers! Do your part to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species! Asian clams, zebra & quagga mussels and invasive weeds like Eurasian water milfoil are just a few of the plants and critters that currently threaten your local waters.

These pests could cost millions to the local economy and irreparably damage our environment, affecting everyone in the region. The Tahoe Resource Conservation District (Tahoe RCD) works with dozens of partner organizations and agencies to protect Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River watershed by implementing programs aimed to prevent and control the spread of aquatic invasive species.

The Tahoe RCD will share information about these species, how they are easily spread and how we can prevent and minimize their damage on Sept. 26, 2012 from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the REI in Reno, NV .

Please sign up HERE to learn how YOU can make a difference!
